Summer Morning Camp 2013

Hello everyone!  I have decided to do 5 weeks of mini-camp this summer at my garage studio.

Summer Morning Camp
from 9:30AM to 12 Noon Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
COST: $175 Per week includes all materials.
During the summer morning camp we will focus on a single area of art and create artwork portraying what we have learned.  These classes are for children ages 6-10 (possibly 11&12) who are serious about their artwork and would like to spend their mornings creating in an intimate studio setting with friends.  We will be learning techniques and skills in each area that they will be able to use beyond the class.  We will also have a lot of fun.  There is a maximum of six students per week.  Sign ups are per week and you may sign your child up for as many or few weeks as you like.  If you would like to sign up your child, please email me and I will send you a sign up form (theredbowstudio at gmail).  There is a $50 deposit per student to reserve a space per class.  If you have any questions, please call or email me!

Week 1 Paint A Canvas July 1, 2, &3 (Mon instead of Thurs)
The second week of camp will be spent with acrylics painting a canvas. On the first day we will sketch out our ideas and draw them onto our canvas.  The second and third days will be spent working with the acrylic paints, focusing on color and form.  If there is time, we will work on more than one painting.

Week 2 Cartooning July 9,10, & 11
In this workshop we will learn about the body, how to create our own characters, and how to draw many different subjects.  Included will be different types of animals, facial features, backgrounds, etc.  We will work with professional pens and other media of the artists' choosing.  The result will be a comic strip!

Week 3 Still Life  July 16, 17 & 18
Our third week will focus on still life subjects.  We will work with many different objects and practice drawing what we see.  This workshop will focus on line, form, and value and how to translate it into our drawings and paintings.  The students will work with different mediums and canvases and have some wonderful work to hang at the end of this workshop.

Week 4 Watercolor Book Workshop July 23, 24, & 25
In week four we will work with watercolor paints and learn the many different wonderful things they can do.  In this workshop we will focus on process and technique.  The subject matter will be chosen by the student.  The result will be a simple book with watercolor renderings.

Week 5 Collage Workshop- Create a Lamp and a Shrine July 30, 31 & August 1
In week five, we will spend our time cutting with scissors and creating collages with Mod Podge.  We will decorate a lamp and we will create a shrine to hang on the wall- both lovely items to spruce up any room in your house!
